The IRA Specialists are a team of retirement planning experts committed to your long-term success and helping you reach your retirement goals. We got our start over 20 years ago, in 1998. Since then, we’ve helped hundreds of clients retire comfortably, confidently, and without compromising their futures.
Over the years, we noticed a lack of focus on the complexities of IRA accounts and Social Security benefits. We saw many people make seemingly small mistakes with their investments that resulted in costly taxes and penalties that could have been avoided. So we made it our mission to educate each of our clients on the intricate rules and proper handling of these accounts, allowing them to get more from these benefits.
We have two separate locations in the Denver metro area, providing convenient locations for us to meet with our many clients throughout the city and surrounding suburbs. As locals ourselves, we enjoy meeting with our clients face to face, developing close, personal relationships as we come to understand—and help them achieve—their long-term goals.
You can get to know each of our team members in their biographies below. We invite you to reach out to us at any time, schedule a face-to-face meeting, and let our team help you get more from your retirement accounts.
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™
Bob is the president and owner of The IRA Specialists. He’s been working in the financial industry for 33 years, and has guided many clients through their transitions to retirement with his honest, straightforward advice.
Bob attended Carson Newman College (now known as Carson Newman University) before attending Duke University. He entered the financial industry in June of 1988 and received his Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 1992. After 10 years of working in the industry, Bob founded The IRA Specialists as an independent advisor.
There are many aspects of his career that Bob enjoys, but above all, he enjoys the people he works with and the problems that he helps them to solve. A problem-solver at heart, he gets a thrill out of identifying and helping clients avoid costly mistakes in their investments, or helping them minimize the taxes taken out of their retirement funds. But equally enjoyable is the time he spends getting to know his clients on a personal level, and many view him as a wise friend they can trust to never lead them astray.
Bob grew up in the South, but now resides in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. When he’s able to get out of the office, he enjoys spending his time outdoors—fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley. Bob has been married to his wife, Sally, for 35 years and they have a daughter together, who also lives in the Denver area.
Deep down, Bob is a lifelong learner. He loves that there is always something new to learn in the financial industry, and is constantly working to educate himself and stay abreast of changes in today’s financial environment. He strives to share that love of learning with his clients by educating them to take on a more active role in their own financial planning.
Debbie is often the first face you see and the first voice you hear when you contact The IRA Specialists. She’s been our practice manager since August 2018, and her friendly smile and personable manner help our clients to feel at ease the moment they step into our office.
Debbie has over 20 years of experience working in the financial industry. Prior to working with us, she was a technical analyst and client service assistant with Smith Barney/Citigroup and UBS Financial Services, as well as an investment research associate at IFAM Capital. Her naturally approachable demeanor and exceptional financial knowledge help us to fulfill our clients’ service requests promptly and accurately.
From scheduling appointments and handling client service requests to simply being a familiar face when you step through the door, Debbie helps us provide the exceptional, personal service that is so central to what we do
Krista has been the administrative assistant at The IRA Specialists since 2015. While she may not often work directly with our clients, the work she does allows us to develop those personal relationships we so deeply value. One of her key duties is organizing the events we often hold for our clients and community members. These events can range from educational forums regarding IRA investment management and maximizing Social Security benefits, to our fun client-appreciation events, like wine tastings and tours of Coors Field or Mile High Stadium.
Whatever event we have in mind, Krista makes it happen, giving us the opportunity to educate, empower, and become closer to our clients. Her attention to detail and unparalleled organizational skills are what make these events a success. So the next time you attend one of our events, you’ll have Krista to thank for making it happen. We couldn’t do what we do without her.
